Day 43

Day 43
Woke up @5.56am for a 6am class… Yeah didn’t really work out. I went for my 7 miler instead with Lilo. It was actually a super nice morning, I ran all around the seawall, the sky was pink, the ocean was calm. It was blissful. A good way to start Friday. I think I enjoy my running days way more than before since every run is really specific and different. I concentrate more on myself, my breathing, my form. Just 3 days a week of running for a marathon training. You can do it too. Quality over quantity.

Day 42

Day 42
Declared as this week’s rest day. I have some pain on my leg, so I am taking a day off to see if it goes away on its own. Couple of nice things happened today. First, I got a donation from a friend for Search Dog Foundation. It’s such a hopeful feeling to have people who feel generous and do something kind out of the blue without anyone asking them to do so. Hats off to kindness like that. And he donated last year to the same cause while I was actively fundraising. I also received my election listing in the mail today as a new Canadian.

Day 41
6am Bar Method. Another early morning… There was a new instructor in the class who was a bit too loud for my taste that early in the morning. And yeah she made us all shake big time. Going back to bed after the class is just the highlight of my day, or the reason why I get up that early.
Today I dropped off the girls at the daycare and apparently they had an agility workshop and they wanted to see how Vodka would do. She was spectacular apparently. That’s my girl.

Day 40. Lunch time 4miles speedwork with Vodka.
Getting better every week with these speedruns. One running tip from me to all who is doing speedwork runs; Count your breaths. It makes the distance feel shorter and it makes your lungs burning feel less annoying.
More important than that, I want to talk about the crisis in Syria tonite.
I am originally from Turkey and Syria is my one of my neighbors.

Day 39
6am Bar Method. Today is brought to you by “how many dogs is required to finish a cup of yogurt in 5 seconds?” And I would like to congratulate all of us in spring time for surviving this one-hour-less-sleep-Monday. When I left for my class this morning, our oven clock was showing 4.45am. Ouch.
But no matter how tired I am, or how much of a hectic day I have, coming to a loving home makes it all go away.

Day 38
4pm 10 miles long run.
I know how you all felt this morning. Grumpy and sleepy. I am a morning person, no matter how late I go to bed, or how much I drink, I wake up early. Not this morning obviously. Daylight saving hit me and it was 10am when I woke up. It’s really late for my standards.
Lots of people don’t really enjoy the daylight saving so here is a bit of history of the whole thing.

Day 37
A day off! Wow that felt good, I mean sleeping in a bit. A rest day means no activity really, but it was such a nice sunny day in Vancouver that I had to take my rollerblades out for the first time this year. Vodka and Lilo love rollerblading. Separately of course. I can’t imagine having both of them 🙂 Vodka pulling, Lilo dragging, me in the middle. No thanks.
Today, I sent an email to Saga Humane Society in Belize about volunteering at their shelter. Let’s see what comes out of it. I am actually looking forward to an experience like that.

Day 35 & Day 36

Day 35 & Day 36
Allow myself to cheat. Combining 2 days in one entry. It happens, don’t judge me. And hey today is international women’s day. Day 35 was a lunch time Bar Method day and followed by a lovely evening of catching up with an old friend who is visiting (Hi Clare!) Day 36; is pretty amazing so far. I woke up early, debated in bed about if I should go for a run or pretend to sleep in… I am so glad that I managed to trick my brain to get up. It would have been a shame if I missed this glorious morning in Vancity.

Day 34
6am Bar Method. I am glad I am up early this morning, I have a lot of paperwork to go thru before going to work, at least I am pretty awake after a class of intense booty work!
Anyhow, today I just wanted to write about the importance of search and rescue dogs and also remind everyone how amazing National Search Dog Foundation’s work is.
I am sharing the photo of a newly certified search team. Search & Rescue dog training is extensive, exhaustive and intense for both the animal and the trainer. However, the reward is a remarkable animal that is extremely valuable in terms of saving human lives.

Day 33

6pm 5miles speedwork. I like doing these speedwork runs after work. I feel much stronger than 6am, and when I need speed, I need to be a bit more awake. I managed to keep my pace up and even tho it was a tough run, I made it feeling strong and faster. So tonite I want to write about my experience of running less but running hard and how that concept applies to other things in our life.
