Day 15

Day 15
Lunch time 3miles run. What a lovely day today in Vancouver! It feels like spring is own its way! The whole city was out and about. I haven’t done many lunch runs before, it always feels a bit rushed but it worked out fine in the end. I mean, having the sun was just blissful.
And talking about being blissful, I am quiet happy that we didn’t get hit by a meteor over here. I was hoping for Optimus Prime to show up, I’ll keep wishing. Or maybe they are here?

Day 7
6.30am 2 miles run with Vodka.
I slept in. I didn’t hear my alarm and woke up at 6.20. When you are short on time, you do speedwork. Vodka loves speedwork anyway. It’s a nice morning out there, a bit windy but that’s how you get the clear sky.

Day 5

Day 5
6am 5 miles run with Lilo.

I think my brain is accepting the early morning routines now. I woke up @5.30 even tho I had a bit too many drinks on a Monday night last night. It was great, and I am glad my run didn’t make me regret it. Oh by the way Vancouver, it’s windy out there today.

Day 3

Day 3
3 miles run with Lilo.
Happy Sunday everyone. I had a great brunch (with endless mimosas!) then hit the trails for couple of miles with Lilo. We went inside Stanley Park, around Beaver Lake. Not sure why the Santa hats were on our way – I mean really it’s February already… People are watching the superbowl today!

Day 2

Day 2
12pm 5 miles trail run with Vodka.
Obviously I forgot how hilly Capilano Pacific Trail was. Good thing I still remember the basics of trail running. Running with Vodka is always a challenge on its own anyway. She is like one of those kids who like to test their parents limits. She is like “well she let me go into the water, BUT what would she do if I crawl under this pipe that goes underneath the river? oh she is yelling. Obviously I can’t. At least not today.”

Day 1

Day 1

6am 4.5 miles solo run
Do I remember how to do this?
I think I spent the whole month of January trying to decide on what I am going to achieve this year. Which race should I train for, what charity should I support? Then a whole month passed, and I came up with nothing.

One month AFTER

One month AFTER

I knew I can’t write this post without going for a run beforehand. It’s been a month with no running; putting on my running shoes (oh my dear running shoes) felt absolutely nostalgic. They were still covered with mountain dust, sweat and tears… It felt great to be out again. I have been rollerblading and biking lots since the race but to be honest I can’t wait to go back to running. Especially winter running.

Race day and the day AFTER

No Comments Community, Family, Friends, Running

Wow what a journey that was!

It’s been 2 days now and I think I am a bit rested now. Still sore, and covered with awful awful mosquito bites but at least I was able to function like a normal person yesterday.
This race was the most challenging thing I have ever done in my life. And I think it can be the last challenging thing as well. I am not sure if I can push the limits of my body and mind more than this. It was a tough 10 hours on the mountain, on my own, no access to civilization.

LAST Day before the race

LAST day!

We counted down from 152 days! It feels like yesterday… 5 months of training and now I am packing my bags. I have everything I need; awesome support team, lots of supersonic energy gels, medical kit, survival blanket, whistle, bear bell, gatorade, and water… And fresh legs and excitement. Bring it on 30 miles. We are saving lives doing this! Who is afraid of a little pain, I know victory tastes really good afterwards.

1 Day to go

1 Day to go

Dear friends,
This is the last Friday before the race. I can’t believe how much we raised so far. We beat last year’s amount and we are getting so close to reach $6000. And those of you who sent me a message or talked to me about how much you are being inspired and proud of what I am doing… I can’t thank you enough. You guys are making this all so worth it too.
