100 Days to go

I think having 100 days left to the race is a big deal. I am getting ready, increasing my mileage every week. The girls are getting fitter and stronger. We still have a quiet long way to reach our goal of $10000 but I want to believe that we can reach it. I am going to share some articles about SDF’s work today. I hope it will inspire you.

6pm 4 miles run with Lilo. It’s official, the spring is here; I saw ducklings today at Stanley Park, and really protective parents. Another thing, I actually saw a beaver at Beaver Lake inside the park for the first time too. I have been running around the lake for a while and I haven’t seen a single beaver until today. Feeling a little accomplished to be honest.

I read this interesting article on Runnersworld today. Here it is

Cross-training today. My knees were aching real bad, they made me feel like an old lady. So I rollerbladed in the sun and then went to the gym to work those turkey arms and abs. Such a fine evening in Vancouver. I put on my SDF long sleeve shirt, showing my support. For each donor, I got a gift to give back; a little bookmark. Even if you don’t read, put it on your desk and brag about how awesome you are by supporting search & rescue dogs.

I woke up late again, it’s going to be an after work run as well. Today it’s an important day for National Search Dog Foundation. Today is the 17th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. I remember watching the rescue operations on TV, I was 12 years-old and I remember reporters talking about the daycare that was in the building. Lost of innocent kids were buried under the rubble.

6.30am 4 miles run with Vodka. Not a bad run this morning, Vodka did enjoy it very much. I let her go into the water, she goes mental if she gets to swim a little. Then I ran back home with a wet dog who likes to rub herself against my leg; pure joy 🙂

I wasn’t planning on writing about this, but I just can’t stop thinking about the Norwegian massacre and the trial of Breivik since the beginning of this week.

124 Days to go

Monday is rest day. The training schedule seems heavy this week, so I am really enjoying my rest day. I watched the Boston Marathon elite runners early in the morning, a little inspiration for my little short legs. The elites make it look so easy to run a marathon in just over 2 hours. They look so effortless… Qualifying for Boston is on my bucket list, just need to run a marathon around 3hrs25min to qualify. Easy…

6.30am 4 miles tempo run with Vodka.
I took Vodka to Coal Harbor area this morning, a nice run along the water then along the lost lagoon. It’s just so nice over there in the mornings. So quiet. It makes you feel like you’re out in the wild within the city.

6.30am 4 miles run with Lilo. Pretty nice morning out there today. I was really sleepy, it took me a mile to actually realize that I was out running.
Good thing today is like a Friday to us in North America. Long weekend, I am so ready for it!

A little late start this morning. It’s cross training day, the sun is out so I am thinking some rollerblading with the girls after work today. Feel free to join me if you like.

Since it’s Friday, since we all need some good inspiring story to make us feel a little bit better, I am going to share Pearl’s story. Once a rescue, now a rescuer.

7am 12 miles SOLO long run.
Well this was much better than yesterday. When I was reading about ultra-marathon training and they were mentioning about the importance of running on “tired legs” by scheduling back to back long runs on the weekends, I underestimated what they meant. And yes, my legs were tired from yesterday’s long run and I just wasn’t able to run the extra 2 miles to reach 14 miles.
