61 Days to go

It feels awfully weird to call today rest day but since I am back on track, it’s a day off. Tomorrow morning, we are leaving town to go the wine country; the Okanagan. I can’t wait to (run) explore that area. Take the girls with us as well. So today was basically running all the errands before the trip(applied for a Canuck passport, got the car serviced etc.)
Before I forget, I need to say how grateful I am to my friends who donated last night for search and rescue dogs. We are now at $1575! Thank you so much.

65 Days to go

Still sick. But I gathered my survival kit today. I have been drinking almost a liter of orange juice, sleeping lots, and taking dayquil. I feel much better than this morning but still low on energy. I’ll get there eventually. It sucks that I am missing one week of training. It’s going to be a bit hard on me next week.

12pm 6 miles run with Lilo. Once more, I was at Cleveland Dam running the Capilano Pacific Trail and the Coho Loop. Now that I know my way around the trail, I took Lilo with me. The first mile, I think she runs twice as much as I do. Going back and forth, back and forth…She was so exhausted half way that I stopped where there was a little safe creek for her to dip into. Fresh creek water definitely hit the spot for her. Now it’s ZzZZZz time at home.

3 miles run with Vodka. I took Vodka to the Cleveland Dam, thinking that I am familiar with the trails around the canyon. Doh, obviously I am not. I didn’t get lost but I found new trails, which were fun and experience. It’s a bit trickier to run with Vodka on the trails, she likes to lead but sometimes she doesn’t pay enough attention to the terrain.

86 Days to go.

Today I am going to make this all about service dogs.

You will often find them going above and beyond duty to save someone, risking — and at times losing — their lives in the process.
They are therapeutic, strong, and fast. They are our heroic dogs. The helping hands of our furry friends are often overlooked, but they are ready to help us in countless situations.
Search and rescue dogs assist victims in the wreckage of natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and earthquakes. Sniffer dogs check for drugs, weapons, and bombs. Ski Patrol dogs help mountain safety, and guide dogs help individuals with special needs. Dogs also offer therapeutic aid to soldiers, retirees, hospital patients, and children.

I am sooo tired. 2.30pm 4 miles solo run.
I just wanted to run the beginning of Baden Powell Trail at Grouse. Little I’ve known, the beginning of that trail is almost like the Grind but without the stairs. I guess I asked for more branches and rocks instead of stairs. I got enough, thank you very much. Such a narrow trail too. I am glad I listened to my instinct and didn’t bring one of the girls with me.

9.30 am Grouse Grind. I am not a Grouse Grind virgin anymore. It was just like what I was expecting, I wish it was less stairs more rocks/branches. It was still absolutely hard but mesmerizing since there were clouds creeping into the mountain. I think there are a lot of unemployed people just like myself out there, I wasn’t expecting this much of a crowd 🙂
And no going downhill! I was looking forward to that part. Oh well.

Monday, off day. Such a lazy day today. I slept in too. So unusual of me. I woke up around 8 to walk the girls, then went back to bed to sleep until 10.30am. Crazy. I feel really rested that’s for sure. Running makes you listen to your body more. You get a feeling what you should be doing in terms of resting or taking it easy.

6.30am 21 miles solo run.
Well that was long and painful. I took a really urban path today. I ran around 10th street up till UBC then back on the beach and then back up on the hill to hit 8th all the way back to Main st. I was dead. Seriously, not funny, this was the longest training run I have ever had in Vancouver.

3pm 4 miles solo run.
What a busy day today. I always laughed at people who said they didn’t have enough time during the day while they are not actually working. But I must say, I finally finished all the things I wanted to do today, and still have things to do on my list.
I finally went to the storage room to get our summer clothes out. If I ever ever say I need more dresses, somebody please slap me.
