Day 76, 77, 78 & 79!
I was having technical difficulties for the last couple of days so be ready for me pouring my heart out tonite. There is so much to talk about, to think about… I am still keeping up with my running, Bar Methoding and also managed to sneak in a 20km epic rollerblade run the other day.
But right now, there are so many things I want to share with you all.
Bare with me, it may be a long one tonite.

Where should I start… Lets talk briefly about the Boston Marathon bombings manhunt. I am really happy that it’s over. I am also glad that they at least got one of the suspects alive, so things are not solved “an eye for an eye” style in the US. At least not always. I read an interesting article the other day about the media coverage of the whole event, and how the media actually failed big time. One of the conclusions in the article was that the media devoted vastly more attention to a bombing that killed 3 in Boston than to the bombing in Iraq that killed 50 people the same day.

And, yes media wants the attention of the audience and they know they get more audience when there is a connection between the audience and the events. How many of you heard about the earthquake in Iran? I only read it once in the news couple of days ago and nothing since then. It was the biggest earthquake in Iran for 40 years. Any immediate fundraising to help? Not really. And talking about earthquakes, there has been a new one in China. More than 150 fatalities. Doesn’t it feel like when disasters, chaos start, they come all together. Shaking our reality.

And how about the fertilizer explosion in Texas? Such devastation! The pictures are shocking. So much damage in so little time. The plant was storing 1350 times the amount of ammonium nitrate that would normally trigger safety oversight by Homeland Security. Go figure! This week has been full of emotions. Between all the madness, sadness and insanity, there are good people doing good things.
Those of you who were with me last year fundraising for National Search Dog Foundation, I am sure you are getting all the updates from them.

They were deployed to Texas to look for anyone buried under the rubble and collapsed buildings after the explosion. 2 rescue dogs now trained to be search and rescue dogs were there to look for anyone alive underneath all the rubble. Tucker & Hayden, both rescued from animal shelters. Reading about their work and their stories put me in a much better place and put my mind in a much better state. At least, I am not a passive audience reading the news, communities we supported and still support are helping others in need. And you should feel good as well. Seeing your donations in action.

Disasters, wars unite people. We look after one and another. When things happen to close to home, it brings an awareness. Maybe it’s time for America to realize about the sufferings in Syria, the consequences of the war in Afganistan… And maybe it’s time for people to read more about the rest of the world, open their minds & hearts and see the bigger picture. For me, I realized that something that I dream about accomplishing, cost some people their legs. So maybe I should not obsess about it, because life is unpredictable and we don’t have all the strings to control it.

Agree or disagree,I am going to leave you with one of my favorite quotes of all time from Einstein: “A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
Good night, and lots of love. xo
