106 Days to go

Cross training day, I’ll be heading to the gym tonite. Cross training really helps my running, especially having a strong core makes me stand tall even if I am exhausted.
Today I wanted to share with you guys story of Lilah. I am adding the photo of her and her handler.

In January 2011, SDF received a call from volunteer Andrea Bergquis, letting SDF know that she had discovered an excellent Search Dog candidate at Sacramento SPCA. Lilah, a one year old Black lab, had been picked up as a stray by the shelter. Suffering from kennel cough and described as “friendly but skinny”, Andrea evaluated Lilah for search and rescue work. She passed with flying colors and she got transported to the down south to begin her training. It was clear that Lilah lover her new job, and she quickly completed training and was partnered with SDF’s Florida handler Marshia in August 2011.

Marshia and Lilah are now working toward certification and hope to become deployment ready in mid-2012.

I can’t even imagine the satisfaction that Andrea is going to feel once Lilah gets her certification to become search and rescue dog. She discovered that young skinny stray and found her a job to save Lilah. According to Humane Society, 56 percent of dogs and 71 percent of cats that enter animal shelters are euthanized in US. Lilah could have been one of them.

But now, thanks to a volunteer at the shelter she is going to be saving lives, our lives once she passes her certification.

Can we save more Lilahs? Today, I am asking you to please donate and share my cause with your family/friends. If we reach $10000 we can sponsor a dog like Lilah. Wouldn’t that be something amazing to share with your family and friends?
Happy Friday to you all.
