136 Days to go

6.30am 4 miles run with Lilo. Pretty nice morning out there today. I was really sleepy, it took me a mile to actually realize that I was out running.
Good thing today is like a Friday to us in North America. Long weekend, I am so ready for it!

Not sure how many of you were aware but yesterday was World Stray Animals Day. I am from Turkey where the stray population is huge. We don’t euthanize any strays, it’s against the law. Every living being has the right to live. All strays will be neutered, tagged and then released back to the streets. I grew up in an environment where everybody will have a stray dog/cat that they look after in front of their building/houses. I still remember the day when my dad saved this little stray puppy who was playing around the highway. He put her in a little basket and I remember when I first saw “Lucky”.

I think I was around 8 years old, Lucky was not even 2 months old. She was a wild crazy dog, but she was the cutest thing in the world for me. She was with us for almost a year then she ran away. She went back to the streets. Me and my parents searched for her for months. It still brings tears to my eyes remembering her. My first dog was a stray. After Lucky, I fed all the strays in our neighborhood, even fostered some newborns. And now everytime I go back home, I save some of my food from dinner/lunch and give it to the cats and dogs who follow me to have something to eat.

Unfortunately the system is different in North America. I am absolutely again euthanasia, all animals has right to live. If you have a moment please have a look at Stray Animals Day website
Adopt a stray dog, ask your local animal shelter how you can help and share the cause of 4/4 Stray Animals Day with everybody you know. There is something in the eyes of a stray animal that touches my heart. Show compassion, care, and take action for stray animals all over the world.
