118 Days to go

12pm 4miles run around Cypress Mountain. Wow what an experience today. I blame the mountain bikers for today’s chaos. Ollie was going snowboarding to Cypress Mountain today and I asked him if he can drop me off half way since there are trails going all the way to the top of the mountain and I thought it would be a fantastic exercise. This map seemed quite straight forward. Take skyline trail and then up on Baden Powell. Not so much…

Today is the first day where I felt helpless and completely lost in the trails. I should have trusted the review of the other hikers. The trail marks are so badly done around Cypress. I followed couple of mountain bikers but it seems like they create their own trails as they go down. I knew I shouldn’t be going downhill this much but the trail was going down so I did… Ended up so lost. I had to go up up up to go back to the trail that I was supposed to be at. I really don’t want to have this feeling ever again. Where everything looked exactly the same. No trails, just the forest. I followed some trail looking paths and they were dead ends.

Google maps don’t have the small trails, so I tried to aim to go back to the main road, which forced me to climb and crawl around. I was lucky to be able to contact Ollie to pick me up where he dropped me off. I really really really don’t want to have this feeling ever again. I was so exhausted mentally trying to find my way around that my legs just found the way back to the parking lot. Anyway, lesson learned. Listen to other hikers and buy more safety and security equipment. And maybe get better in navigation? I am not that great at all.

Another week is complete. I was going to write about Earth Day today but seems like I felt the power of mother nature today. I felt so small in the forest, so helpless. So folks, respect her, she is much bigger than us. Humans are trying to destroy Earth and and Earth strikes back. Remember to mobilize the environmental movement today. Together we will stand united for a sustainable future and call upon individuals, organizations, and governments to do their part.

This is going to be all from me tonite. Canucks lost against LA in the NHL playoffs, our city is quiet.
While we are all quiet tonite, we should remind ourselves that the earth is what we all have in common. Let’s try to cherish it against all odds. Let’s heal our planet, in the end, we’ll see we heal ourselves.

Good night folks.
Lots of love.
