115 Days to go

6pm 5 miles run with Vodka. Dogs are so fun. I had a long day at work, came home, started getting ready to head out for my run. Both Vodka and Lilo got so excited seeing me putting on my running shoes. Dogs just live in the moment. They forget that they were at home all day sleeping, and their mom was mad at them for tipping over the laundry basket. Their enthusiasm and energy is contagious. So happy to be out, doing something fun.

A little history today.

April 25 is ANZAC Day. Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in the Ottoman Empire during World War I. I have been to the Dawn Service at Gallipoli when I was at university. When you go to Anzac Cove, you understand why wars are such a shame. AUS and NZ forces came all the way from the other side of the world to Anzac Cove. That beautiful beach cost thousands of lives over the years; both Turkish, Australian, New Zealander and British.

Now I am sharing my life with a New Zealander and last year during our trip to Turkey, we visited Anzac Cove together. These photos are from that trip.
History is there to remind us what worked and what didn’t. It’s not there to remind us to hate each other generations after generations. I see cultures still hating each other because of the past. I am absolutely not saying that we should forget the past. Never. The pain stays and we should remember all those who lost their lives, but hate is an exhausting emotion and it doesn’t offer any solutions. It creates reactions.

Forgiveness and acceptance will create the future. Remember the message from the Israeli father to the Iranian people. Wars are not created by people like us. They are made by the power holders and by media manipulations.

So if you excuse me, as a Turk and Kiwi in love, we are going out for dinner.
Sending you all a big hug and I hope you guys are having a good night/morning/afternoon.
